CubeSat Challenge: Phuket, Day 1

After a long journey of preparations, our CubeSat Challenge Phuket has finally begun! The CubeSat Challenge: Phuket event is organized by Starlight Education and hosted by BCIS. This very unique 5 day long space camp features analogue astronauts from NASA and ICEE.SPACE to guide participants in designing a miniature satellite called a CubeSat, while learning about space technology and an explorer’s mindset along the way.
Our school’s founder Mr. Laurent Minguely kicked off the event with an inspirational speech and a warm welcome to the participants. In total 85 students will get to learn from analogue astronauts and space experts from NASA and the ICEE.SPACE, the nuances of space technology, and building CubeSats!
Activities on the first day include having students getting familiarized with the environment, their instructors and their teammates. The students had great fun listening to astronaut Charles “Sam” Gemar and analog astronaut Charlotte Pouwels share their awesome experiences in space and testing space technology in simulated space environments on earth.
We are confident that the participants will be looking forward to the next few days, where things get more and more interesting as they work towards building their very own CubeSat!
