During our BCIS Christmas show held on the 11th of December 2020, we collaborated with the Phuket SWAPSHOP to provide help and support to a cause BCIS has been supporting over the years: the Banya Literacy Centre. The school, destined to offer a better quality of life and education for young students in need, has been facing enormous difficulties linked with the collapse of the economy during COVID-19. In times of solidarity, and based on the same values of charity, community support and sustainability, BCIS and the Phuket Swapshop gathered gifts, generously donated by BCIS Families and BCIS Owners and Founders, Mrs. Nittaya and Mr. Laurent Minguely.
On Monday 1st February, Ms. Yoana Vastree Estevez, BCIS Year 4 Homeroom teacher and Co-Founder of the Phuket SWAPSHOP, accompanied by our Deputy Head of Primary, finished the final steps of the donation, met the bright smiles of the Banya Centre and handed out gifts for all. BCIS is proud to support the initiative of our talented and dedicated teachers. The Phuket Swapshop was created by Yoana and Sarha in order to bring people together and shed light on forgotten causes, we could not be happier to contribute in the development of such valuable projects, congratulations Phuket Swapshop and a warm thank you to all for the gift donations.

On Friday 18th December, we held our second community donation of the month, led by BCIS owner and founder, Mr. Laurent Minguely.
During the first operation organized on the 5th of December, hand in hand with our BCIS community, we donated a total of 360 rice bags to local families in need. Witnessing how much our donations were still needed to support the seldom heard local individuals and families, we promised to hold another operation.
Our doors thus opened for the second time around this month, to give a helping hand to our neighborhood children, parents and grandparents. As a result, throughout both our operations, we donated over 4 tons of rice, with 350 extra bags of rice given last Friday.
We are so appreciative of our devoted volunteers, parents & students, BCIS staff members who joined us on the heartfelt event. We would also like to thank Mrs. Thoye Manin, our school friend who has actively been helping local communities since the very start of the pandemic crisis, Mr. Michel and his family for volunteering to assist in both operations and who’s support we value dearly, and Mr. Christian Chevrier, Consular Adviser for Thailand/Myanmar.

On Saturday 5th December 2020 Mr. Laurent and Mrs. Nittaya Minguely, BCIS Owners & Founders, accompanied by BCIS students, staff and families united to offer 2.25 tons of rice to 450 families in need. On behalf of all present on Saturday, it was with the most sincere form of happiness that we welcomed and exchanged with local community members, witnessing the smiles on their faces and the sense of relief it inspired.
Two hours before the rice donation to families selected by the Chalong Municipality, 200 other families visited our campus and asked us to lend a helping hand. Facing a group of our local community in need, BCIS Phuket management announces it will rapidly hold another community donation event, in order to honor their request and meet their demands.
We are extremely moved by such an operation and are already dedicated and committed to providing the help our community still needs on 18 December. A warm thank you to all BCIS Phuket community members for their generosity and special thanks to the Chalong Mayor – Mr. Samran Jindapol and the Chalong Municipality team for their help and support during the operation.
We are honored to be a part of the Chalong Community. We are only as strong as we are united.
